Over the past few years, Netflix has added several popular anime series to its streaming platform. With the rising popularity of the anime genre, more and more manga and light novel series are being adapted into TV form. Upon reading this, fans would assume that the streamer's library is full of English subbed anime since it's what's most popular.
Poring over Netflix’s rich catalog of anime titles, we’ve assembled a list of 20 of the best anime to stream on Netflix right now. From classic series like Cowboy Bebop and Neon Genesis Evangelion, Netflix originals like Devilman Crybaby and Rilakkuma and Kaoru, here are the very best anime series the platform has to offer.
I believe Netflix is focusing more on dubbed anime to appeal to a larger audience in the US and other first world countries with large English speaking populations. It’s purely monetary and Netflix doesn’t want to lose to other streaming services. What’s wrong with dub? It allows more people to enjoy anime and make it spread farther.
This is because watching anime in the subbed version captures the originally intended emotion of the characters, which is often missing in the dubbed versions. And also, you will discover that most anime streaming sites might not have dubbed versions of your favorite anime, so subbed becomes your only option.
So when the newest slate of Netflix anime was released with captioning that didn't match, it was easy to notice. Netflix seems to be using the same script for the English dub and Japanese sub captioning. The difference between the translation and the transcription is very stark when the dub is on.
Netflix has an ever-increasing database of dubbed anime for fans to enjoy. These English dubbed anime entertained fans with their great voice acting and engaging characters and they'll continue to do so while being hosted on Netflix.

In the case of your anime, you're getting subtitles to the Japanese audio, and watching the English audio. The English audio is not a translation of the Japanese Audio, it's a rescript, partly for cultural reasons, partly due to lip syncing issues. So they do not match. yup, it's exactly that!
Netflix only allows you to change your subtitle and dubbing once you're already watching a title. This is likely because Netflix has different language options for its many, many titles. Once the title starts playing, it will likely play in its original language without subtitles.
Because, Netflix only has the subbed version. It's not all dubbed. Most of it is subbed.
Does Japan Netflix Have Subtitles? As part of their Japan launch in September 2015, Netflix offered Japanese subtitles in the country. A client must receive subtitles apart from the video (i.e. Also, you won't hear burned-in subtitles at all.
Many of the Japanese TV shows, movies, and anime series on Netflix support both Japanese and English audio and subtitles. If your interface is in English, the audio will default to English, which we don't want.
Under the audio menu, you'll have to change from English to the original language of the show and if you didn't know what that was, there's a handy [Original] next to its native language. Then unless you actually speak that language, you'll have to click on English under the subtitles menu.
So as some of you might know, Netflix is only featuring Japanese (audio) and French (audio/subs) for Naruto and Shippuden.
Subtitles use another script entirely. These, too, are subject to constraints: the translation has to fit across the screen and correspond to a preset reading speed. But they are often seen as a more accurate translation than the dubbing script.
