Is 86 Eighty-Six a good anime? Why is 86 so good, with a compelling story, and an amazing soundtrack by Hiroyuki Sawano, but I can't understand the plot fully? It's like I sat down to watch a James Cameron movie halfway through, but I didn't see the conflict or backstory that drives the plot forward.
That and Vivy are very strong contenders for AOTY no doubt, 86 will be big as well im hoping. I would recommend watching it. I thought it was just above average until the most recent episode which added a twist that makes it much more enjoyable for me.
The 86 characters were easy to root for, and the reveals over them were quite interesting. The penultimate episode was very good, as was the final scene for the season. The visuals, character design, animation and music were all very good.
Now, part 2 of 86 will introduce new characters, story, plot, etc and in the next is when it becomes somewhat clear where the story will be going. So, the entire direction of what you think the story will continue in S1 Part 1 will be very different from where the direction of the story will be going next.
science fiction light novel series86 -Eighty Six- (Japanese: 86-エイティシックス-, Hepburn: Eiti Shikkusu) is a Japanese science fiction light novel series written by Asato Asato and illustrated by Shirabii.
86 Eighty-Six is a Masterpiece It doesn't leave any stone unturned. In fact, it also creates new rocks and then proceeds to flip those, too. From top to bottom, 86 Eighty-Six has become a must-watch anime in the span of just 11 episodes. Most anime take 24 or more episodes to develop into something watchable.
Even if you don't normally like mech or science-fiction anime, 86 is well worth a viewing due to the amazing handling of real life themes. In today's hyper-political and tense times, a story on the dangers of racism and hate couldn't be more relevant. Eighty-six gets 10 Para-Raids out of 10.
Though 86 EIGHTY-SIX did not win the ultimate prize of the night, it still accumulated a total of six awards overall. The series won the inaugural New Anime of the Year award, as it was the highest ranking non-continuing anime among the Anime of the Year nominees.
It's not a romance anime, but 86-Eighty Six definitely has their tiny moments hinting towards it. It's not unwarranted either nor does it immediately rush into anything.
Thus far, 91 Days is a slow-burn drama in anime form, and shows significant potential for meaningful storytelling. Only one episode in, and it already feels like a tragedy, whether Avilio gets his revenge or not.

Truly, there are many anime and manga that touch upon the theme of wars. 86, however, also focuses on discrimination (which obviously follows any war) and racism. Finally, characters interactions really add up to the viewer’s enjoyment and make the anime even more interesting.
And 86 has plenty to choose from, which perhaps helped it to be such a good adaptation that it is. The anime mostly focuses on the difference between peace and war: San Magnolia and the other parts on the frontline; from a number of differences in the animation, to characters’ interactions.
The anime is about an ongoing war between two neighboring countries, Legion and The Republic of San Magnolia.
For a mecha anime, the art style is adequately filtered with pale colors rather than brighter shades. The quality of the art in this anime is high, and it gives a sense of peace to witness anime in such clarity. The first scene in the anime starts with a battle between Legion and The Republic.
People often say that 86 has a really complex story and doesn’t afraid to speak on deep and provocative themes like human freedom and slavery. Well, sorry to disappoint you, but it’s not. 86 is basically your run-of-the-mill teenage dystopia like Hunger Games or Divergent that was really popular only a few years ago.
