Sakura Haruno is the main female protagonist of Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden. However, she is widely disliked in the Naruto fandom for being useless. Indeed, when put beside the other two members of the former team 7, Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura does seem to be the least accomplished of the three.
Maybe Sakura should've ended up with Naruto just for the sake of her not ending up with someone like Sasuke. While Sasuke is not necessarily a terrible guy, he certainly could've treated Sakura a lot better than he did. RELATED: Naruto: 10 Characters Stronger Than Hiruzen Sarutobi
With that being said, here are three times Sakura Haruno was useless in Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden, and three times she proved to be crucial. Land of Waves arc (9.5/10): Just completed this arc and honestly I didn’t expect to end up crying alot lol.
Naruto had held a flame for Sakura Haruno from his childhood. Naruto simply couldn't help but faun over her. He had been tending a flame for Sakura for a very long time by the time of Naruto: Shippuden.
When Naruto finally ended, Masashi Kishimoto was free to give his thoughts on the issue. He had never intended for Sakura to end up with Naruto. Indeed, she wasn't meant to have been as an important a character as she ended up being.
On the Brink of Death.
Because of the lack of abilities, Sakura was a burden on missions. She had to cry out for help. She would complain that she felt like a burden, but you would rarely catch her training by herself like Naruto and Sasuke. Sasuke and Naruto both had clear goals for themselves, while Sakura lacked any.
Almost the entirety of the fan community considers her useless, and she has been called "trash" on many occasions. Basically, the character had established herself as a crybaby and an obsessed fangirl for Sasuke, so much so that she said her aim in life was to ultimately be with Sasuke.
if people yell"well how about sakura saving naruto?" canonically five times. sakura saved him first out of the three genins in team 7 in the entire series where they were ambushed by zabuza and she had to jump at him to show how quick her reflexes are, and also she saved naruto from being sliced in half zabuza's sword.
As Gaara anchors Sakura with his sand and begins moving faster, Sakura switches her tactics and after making an incision in Naruto's chest, begins to manually pump his heart, and performs CPR, adamant that Naruto is not going to die on her watch.
Sakura becomes an important character in the final battle, healing and saving lives as only she can do. You could almost say that without her the final war would have been lost with how much she contributes.
The creator said Sakura was meant to depict a girl's 'real' self and act as a relatable character for his female readers to latch onto. So, naturally, Kishimoto was a bit surprised when Sakura became a scapegoat for angry fans.
In fact, Kishimoto said his decision to have Naruto marry Hinata prompted his wife to give him the cold shoulder. "I almost caused a rift in my own household too, because my wife was very upset also that Naruto didn't get together with Sakura. In fact, she complained quite vehemently to me," he explained.
Sakura is Kage level because she surpassed Tsunade, a Kage. Good day. Gaara, a Kage, considers Sakura to be a shibobi of his class. Aka Kage level.
The most obvious reason why Sakura feels weaker than Naruto or Sasuke, and even some of the other characters, is her lineage. Naruto is an Uzumaki, child of the Fourth Hokage, the chosen one, and vessel of the nine-tails.

Naruto knew how much Sasuke meant to Sakura, and he would do anything to save their friendship. If Naruto hadn't been there in that moment to assure her that everything would be okay, Sakura would've had a much harder time coping with the severed bond.
10 SAKURA: Naruto Had To Work To Earn Her Respect. Initially, Sakura hated Naruto 's guts while he was completely infatuated with her. When they were placed into Team Seven together with Sasuke and Kakashi, Naruto saw this as an opportunity to impress his crush.
Because Sakura was both Naruto's teammate and the main female character of the series, she inevitably had many more interactions with him than Hinata had. From the very first bell exercise with Kakashi to the final battle in the Fourth Shinobi War, Sakura and Naruto have been with each other through thick and thin.
Meanwhile, Hinata would have no one if she didn't have Naruto because he was the only one she ever loved.
When Sasuke fled Konohagakure in his quest for power despite Sakura's pleas for him to stay, Sakura was devastated. Not only did she lose a friend, but her love was also rejected. Despite the fact that Sasuke selfishly abandoned his friends and village, Naruto made a promise to Sakura to bring their teammate back.
14 SAKURA: Naruto Had A Crush On Her From Childhood. Naruto had held a flame for Sakura Haruno from his childhood. Naruto simply couldn't help but faun over her. He had been tending a flame for Sakura for a very long time by the time of Naruto: Shippuden.
Though there were only subtle hints of romance throughout the series, it was always apparent that Naruto had two potential love interests: Sakura and Hinata. Fans who stayed until the end know that Naruto eventually married Hinata while Sakura ended up with Sasuke, but it certainly did not go without much debate.
Losing Kurama means that Naruto Uzumaki has lost most of his powers and thus cannot compete against the strongest of opponents anymore. While he can still fight them, defeating them in combat is an entirely different thing altogether.
Naruto displayed the ability to use Earth Release during his training match against his son, Boruto Uzumaki, showing how far he had truly come over the years. His mastery over all the nature types still makes him a threat to any villain out there, just as Hiruzen Sarutobi proved to be during the Fourth Great Ninja War.
7 Isn't Worthless: He Still Has Six Paths Powers. Naruto gained access to half the chakra of Hagoromo Otsutsuki during the Fourth Great Ninja War and the other half was gifted to Sasuke Uchiha. Although Naruto lost Kurama, his Six Paths Powers should still be accessible to him.
One of the biggest powers of the Nine-Tails chakra was that it enabled Naruto to sense negative emotions quite easily. While this doesn't seem like a useful ability, it actually helped him detect any lurking enemies without any trouble whatsoever, as seen when he noticed Kisame's presence inside Samehada.
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Naruto slowly gained the trust of all the Tailed Beasts and received a portion of their chakra. This power made him considerably stronger and enabled him to tap into their abilities anytime he wished, as seen when Naruto used Shukaku's power to seal Madara's Limbo clone.
9 Isn't Worthless: He Is Useful Because He Can Use Sage Mode. One of the biggest weapons up Naruto's sleeve now that he's lost Kurama's powers is Sage Mode . He managed to learn this power after the death of Jiraiya and it was enough to get the better of Pain, the leader of the Akatsuki. Since then, Naruto has refined his skills with Sage Mode even ...
5 Ways Naru to Is Worthless Without Kurama (& 5 He Isn't) Naruto lost the majority of his power which stemmed from the nine-tailed beast itself, and consequently, he's much weaker now. Naruto Uzumaki was the Jinchuriki of Kurama, the Nine-Tails, who was sealed in him by his father, Minato Namikaze. Thanks to years of training, he finally mastered ...
As the story begins, Sakura is working on developing a therapy center for children's mental health. At the same time, she worries about her relationship with Sasuke, who is constantly on the move and rarely makes contact with her.
As the main character of the novel, Sakura naturally plays a very large role in the story. As the viewpoint character, the audience is given a lot of insight into Sakura's thoughts, particularly towards her work with the medical center but also towards her relationship with Sasuke.
In the main series, the audience rarely sees Sakura play an important role, even though she is a member of Team 7 along with Naruto and Sasuke. For most of the manga and anime, Sakura is often sitting on the sidelines, or even more often just not present for major fights.
Hinata may have beat Sakura in the competition for Naruto's heart - a battle Sakura didn't really want to participate in - but if these two found themselves on the battlefield it would be quite a different story.
Just like Naruto and Sasuke, Sakura was trained by one of the three legendary sanin.
Instead of fighting and putting himself out there, like Sakura did, Iruka stayed back because he wasn't much of an asset on the field.
The fight between Team 7, Haku, and Zabuza was the event that kick-started Sakura's mission for self-improvement. As she stayed back and defended the bridge builder, she vowed to herself that she no longer wanted to rely on Naruto and Sasuke to fight her battles.
While Iruka may have been one of Sakura's first teachers, she definitely surpassed his power levels throughout the series. He takes his duty as a protector of the village very seriously, putting his life on the line for Naruto and his other students on multiple occasions, but Sakura is better suited to keep people safe than he is.
Shizune is Tsunade's assistant, and as a result of that she is better medical ninjitsu than anything else. She's certainly a better medical ninja than Sakura is and even directed the Logistical Support and Medical Division of the Allied forces during the Fourth Shinobi World War.
Despite her reputation, she's quite the powerful fighter. Out of the massive cast of characters in Naruto, Sakura Haruno seems to deal with the most hate from fans. One of the series' core protagonists since the very beginning, Sakura has gone through a transformation from a weak, self-pitying child to a full-grown warrior who's extremely confident ...
Land of Waves arc (9.5/10): Just completed this arc and honestly I didn’t expect to end up crying alot lol.
So many people hate on Sakura and call her trash but Naruto wouldn’t be alive without her. She was the only person who could save his life. I don’t know anyone else who would cut someone open and pump their heart for them. But she’s still useless right?
Contrary to Sakura Haruno, Sakura Uchiha is much less hated. In Boruto, Sakura is mature, powerful, and usually has a sense of rationality that her teenage self did not possess. Sakura in Boruto is much more revered, even though she is only a supporting character there.
