So if you want to watch the Fate anime series in order you need to follow this:
If you want to follow the “proper” order, you should watch first Fate/Zero, then Fate/Stay Night UBW from ufotable (not the movie version) and finally the movie Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel. However, ufotable put a lot of references in FSN: UBW that will fly over your head if you haven’t watched Fate/Zero.
The chronological order: If you want to follow the story from the beginning, you should watch Fate/Zero first, then Fate/Stay night. The problem with this order is that certain items of FSN are spoiled by FZ (think back to the star wars original trilogy and the star wars prequel trilogy which kind of spoil the whole “I am your father, Luke” part.
However, there are many more contents, such as the specials and spinoffs, that require their own order in addition to the original timeline to gain a better understanding of this particular series.
People other than the country of Japan will have their preferences of watching an anime with subtitles or dubbed. Fate anime are evenly scattered in all of the official streaming platforms and it is just a matter of time to swim in the vast ocean of Fate.
The overall official runtime of Fate is 94 hours and 3 minutes when all the series, movies, OVAs, ONAs, specials, and the recently released movie, Fate/Grand Order: Shinsei Entaku Ryouiki Camelot 2 – Paladin; Agateram, are added together.
Watching an anime offline is as easy as it gets. Since the Fate anime series and the movies are streaming in all the official streaming services, one only needs to have the proper subscription.
Given the chronological order, it is naturally tempting for anyone to want to watch it in that order. However, I strongly advise the beginners who are serious about diving down this wild rabbit hole to follow the release order properly.
Fate/stay night is a Japanese visual novel developed by Type-Moon, released initially as an adult game for Windows.

How many Fate anime series are there? As of January 2020, there have been seven Fate anime series released. The titles are listed below, along with the years they were originally released. Note that this list doesn’t include any of the movies associated with the series.
Because they are set in different realities, the events of one not affecting the other, and not following one chronological linear timeline, you don’t really have to watch all the anime series. You can pick which one (s) you want to watch. The different realities each tell different stories.
Fate/Zero is a prequel story to Fate/stay night. It does a good job of fleshing out the background and motivations of the characters we see in Fate/stay night. So we recommend that you watch in this order. 1st - Fate/Zero. 2nd - Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (2014)
Some of these most awaited anime sequels include ‘ Mekakucity Actors ‘, ‘ Saiki K ‘ and many more. Out of all these anticipated sequels coming out in 2019 and 2020, one that many viewers look forward to is the third installment of ‘Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel’ movie series that is scheduled for 2020. The currently running ‘ Fate/Stay Night ‘ ...
As I mentioned earlier, the game from which the anime has been adapted has 3 different timelines. A visual novel never really follows a linear pattern of storytelling and that gives it the advantage of portraying many different storylines at once. But unfortunately, an anime has to be linear with its storytelling and this is where most anime fail to be as good as the visual novels they have been adapted from, except for a few like ‘ Steins;Gate ‘. ‘Fate/Stay Night’ tries to take a well-rounded approach by involving bits of each timeline so that it is able to introduce the viewers to the Holy Grail War and at the same time, move the story in a linear understandable direction. Despite being an overall above-average anime, many still believed that ‘Fate/Stay’ was not really able to do full justice to its source material.
If you go by the release dates of each season, then ‘ Fate/Zero ‘ was not the first one to be created. But chronologically, if you go by the timeline of the anime, this is the first part of the story that introduces you to Fourth Holy Grail War. ‘Fate/Zero’ is also known to be one of the best parts of the entire series for its deep characters ...
Like many other spin-offs and side story adaptations of the main anime, ‘Fa te/kaleid liner PRIS MA ILLYA’ is just another one on the list where Illya transforms into a magical girl and is assigned the task of collecting magical cards that are scattered all over the city. This version of the anime can be viewed anytime but it would be better to go for it after you’re done with the main series and you’re just looking for something more to fill your time.
