Start by drawing the head without any of the small details. In the front view you can draw a circle to help you get the shape of the top of the head. In the side view it will be a slight oval. For more on drawing anime heads and faces see: How to Draw an Anime Girl’s Head and Face.
Start by drawing some lines that indicate each item of clothing. Draw these lines in smooth curves that hug the shape of the body.
Anime girl leg structure. The legs should be about half the length of the entire body. The feet (when drawing the side view) should be about as long as the distance from the wrists to the elbow. For more on drawing the legs see: How to Draw Female Anime Legs Tutorial.
If you are drawing two views at once you can add the horizontal lines to make sure that the different body parts match up in both views. Drawing both views at once is a good exercise. If you are good at drawing one particular body part in one view but not so much in another this can help you.
To draw an anime body, start by drawing a stick figure with small circles at the joints and triangles for the hands and feet. Then, draw the head, neck, and torso with a waistline on top of the stick figure outline. Finish the body by drawing the limbs, using the joints to guide you.
1. Draw a head at the top of your paper. Place a circle near the top center of the page so there’s enough room to add hair later on. Put the point of the chin slightly outside the bottom edge of the circle since the jaw will come lower down.
Once you reach the point where the body is it’s narrowest, put circles inside the tubes you’re drawing for the arms to mark the elbows. Continue extending the tubes down to the bottom of the hourglass and sketch small circles for the wrists. Draw mitten shapes for the hands attached to the ends of the arms.
1. Make an oval with a pointed bottom near the top of your paper for the head. Place the oval in the top middle of your paper so you have enough room to add hair later on. Draw angled lines down from either side of the oval that extend down to form the jaw line.
Sketch an hourglass shape with 2 circles in it for the torso. Draw the top line of the hourglass shape slightly below the chin to form the shoulders. Draw curved lines going toward the center line, and flare out the bottom of the hourglass shape so it’s slightly wider than the shoulders for the hips.
The most important areas as you begin to study the female torso are the iliac crest/iliac spine section that you see indicated in the image below as well as the greater trochanter. Study those areas on the image below.
When drawing the human body, you must account for proportions, perspective, and angles or the drawing won’t look right. For me, drawing the female torso is all about getting the angles right from the first marks on paper. I gauge proportions as I draw since they will change depending on the reference anyways.
It works because they make it hard to confuse the side and the front of the form. By compartmentalizing the shape, our work in drawing the torso gets easier. Understand skeletal landmarks. No matter how much muscles move on the surface, the skeletal structure does not change.
Generally, the shoulders and waist are narrower and the hips are wider due to the underlying skeletal structure. You can draw through the other side, to check your work – see above. For the female torso, note the dip in surface anatomy at 1 (sacrum), and the gap at 2. Female torso, back view, study by Gvaat.
You can’t really play with perspective and angles. The body twists a certain way and it doesn’t twist in other ways. You must place in front of the viewer something that looks realistic and is grounded in how the body behaves, or else your drawing of the female torso will just not look right.
By Gvaat. Drawing the female torso is an elusively difficult task. It is hard enough to keep all the muscles together, you also have to account for proportions and shape, and on top of it all, you have to get perspective just right, or the entire drawing falls apart. Yet there is hope in a careful, focused approach to drawing, ...
