Though actual irises of the eyes don’t change size they are often drawn smaller in anime to give a character a really scared look. As anime eyes tend to already be fairly wide drawing them even wider may make a character look too deformed so the solution is to draw smaller irises.
For a grinning look like the character is plotting something draw the eyebrows lower down, draw the eyes squinted and the mouth smiling with a hint of teeth.
For a content look draw the eyebrows raised and draw the eyes squinted with the eyelids/eyebrows in a downwards curve.
For a surprised look draw the eyebrow raised and more curved then normal. Draw the mouth wide open but with the lips pulled in (almost a reverse of the yelling mouth).
For an angry look draw the eyebrows really low down in a wave like shape with the eyes squinted.
For drawing an open mouth an important thing to note is that the jaw will be lower down. Also keep in mind that it is only the lower jaw that moves when the mouth is opens. The upper jaw stays in place.
To draw anime lips form the side view you can first draw a line from the tip of the nose to the curve of the chin. You can then use this line to horizontally position the lips.
For an unhappy or frowning anime mouth simply draw it as a downwards curve.
To vertically place an anime mouth on the head in the side view you can start by placing the bottom lip about 1/8 of the total height of the head up from the chin. The mouth will be slightly above that.
The jaw does not simply lower down like an elevator but instead swings down more like a door swings on it’s hinges but unlike a door it also moves slightly forward. Excluding the lips the top part of the mouth does not move. For a lot more on drawing anime teeth see: How to Draw Anime & Manga Teeth Tutorial.
For a light smile draw the face with the eyebrow lowered just a tiny bit towards its front and draw the eye with the bottom eyebrow in reverse of it’s normal curve.
For an angry face draw the eyebrow significantly lower than normal (especially their inner ends). Draw the eye squinted with the bottom eyelid in reverse of it’s normal curve.
Draw the eye squinted with the bottom eyebrow in reverse of it’s normal curve and draw the mouth with a light upside down curve as well.
For a content expression draw eyebrow raised with the eye completely closed. Draw the mouth just a tiny bit wider with a bit more of a curve like a light smile.
For a frowning face draw the eyes eyebrow lowered ( especially its front end). Make the eye slightly squinted with the bottom eyelid in reverse of it’s normal curve. Draw the mouth in an upside down curve as well with the bottom lips very slightly raised. Anime male face proportions side view frowning expression.
For an embarrassed look draw the eyebrow in reverse of it’s normal curve with it’s forward tip raised. Draw the eye open wider than normal and looking down.
For a yelling mouth draw the jaw exactly the same way as you would for the previous example but draw the lips pulled back revealing much more of the teeth.

You can see that the diagonal line that we drew is a guideline for you to place the fore head and chin line. At the 2nd horizontal line is where you start the curve for the nose. At the bottom horizontal line is where you start the lips. And you can draw your Anime character’s ear in between the 1st and 2nd horizontal line, towards the back of the circle. Draw a curve from the ear to the bottom of the chin. Also draw the head on top of the original circle.
You can start the profile view of the face with a simple circle. A circle shape is ideal for drawing the Anime / Manga face & head.
Now draw the eye behind the diaganol line, in between the first and second horizontal line (the same space as the ear).
