Draw in a small “eyelid crease” indicator line. You can also draw the full eyelid line if you like, but this implied indicator line is a good loose approach.

Step 4: iris

Draw in the circular shape for the iris. Different eye expressions show different amounts of this circular shape, but for our base learning, let’s keep the very top section of the shape hidden beneath the eyelid. Let the top lines of the circle be thicker and taper thinner.

Step 6: pupil

Now, draw in your character’s pupil and add some light cross-hatching lines to shade in the pupil shape.

Step 7: eyelid shadow

Draw in an upper eyelid shadow making sure the shape tapers to the inner side. At this point, you’ll also want to shade the iris shape.

Step 8: highlights

Add highlights! This is arguably the most fun part! Add in a small highlight to the pupil and a larger highlight to the iris.

Step 2: Draw the Top Lash Line

This will be for your upper eyelashes, make sure not to press too hard so you can easily ink over the lines later

Step 3: Draw the Iris Lines

This will be the colored part of your eye. Fun fact, did you know that some people are born with eyes that are different colored (ex. Tyrion Lannister, from Game of Thrones, had one black eye and one green eye!)

Step 7: Give Your Eye Some Lovely Lashes

Top and bottom, or just the top (in fact, most anime do not use bottom lashes because they're so small in comparison to the upper lashes)

It can be any shape you want! But for this tutorial, a simple, neutral expression eyebrow has been used.
