The New Year is all about fresh starts and trying things you’ve never had, seen, or done before. That means that now is the perfect time ... post shared by Pivoting FOX (@pivotingfox) Hulu ...
The original business model of Hulu is that it ONLY had the in-season streaming rights for shows. Each episode would become available shortly after it aired. The free tier (which no longer exists) would only have a few of the most recent episodes; the paid tier let you watch the entire current season.
Hulu begins the new year in January by adding a ton of new anime and next day premieres of series like The Bachelor, the new Joe Millionaire, the final season of This Is Us, and a ton of films like the Sex in the City movies, Commando, Panic Room, and more.
All told, Hulu currently streams nearly 400 anime titles, which it says is the biggest anime lineup among non-anime-specific streaming platforms. Shows on Hulu include “Naruto Shippuden,” “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations,” “One-Punch Man,” “Sailor Moon” and “Sword Art Online.”
At the end of 2021, it seemed like Hulu was going to lose some anime, probably due to the expiration of licenses. In 2022, the titles stayed up and no longer had expiration times on them, so I assumed that they regained streaming rights.
It typically takes about 24 hours for Hulu to upload new episodes after they air on TV.

Fortunately for fans, it turns out that there's no need to worry. Hulu still owns the partial streaming rights to the show in the U.S. and seasons one through four of the beloved shonen superhero series are available dubbed and subbed on the platform, with season five available in subtitles.

Darling in the Franxx was available on the Hulu network till Oct of 2020 after which Hulu decided to remove it. The reason behind its disbandment of the popular series is due to licensing issues with the popular American anime company Crunchyroll.
While you can watch full seasons of many shows on Hulu, some series may only offer a few of the latest season's episodes to air. This is known as “rolling” availability and is related to streaming rights.

With Hulu, you have the option to choose between on-demand and cable-replacement services. And with 175 anime titles on Hulu, you’ll be busy for a while. Although, if you’re an anime purist, and want all the bells and whistles, then you should consider Crunchyroll or Funimation.
For instance, Hulu lets you try out its on-demand plans for 30 days, while Live TV is available free for 1 week.
It offers a free subscription with limited access and then a few premium plans — Fan ($7.99/mo.), Mega Fan ($9.99/mo.), and Ultimate Fan ($14.99/mo.). Funimation, like Crunchyroll, is dedicated to anime in all of its forms. Similarly, Funimation offers free access with ads, along with 3 premium tiers. These are Premium ($5.99/mo.), Premium Plus ($7.99/mo.), and Premium Plus Ultra ($99.99/yr.).

Well, yes. Hulu offers a pretty healthy selection of anime titles that are great if you’re new to the genre, as well as fan favorites that have a significant rewatch value (ahem, Cowboy Bebop ). You’ll also be pleased to know that Hulu even provides simulcasts of certain series — more on that below. Just keep in mind, not every anime series ...
Involving psychics, teenage biker gangs, and the military, the world is thrust into turmoil when a gang member gains telepathic powers and unleashes total chaos. Hulu offers both a dubbed and a subs version of Akira. For the layperson, “dubbed” indicates English voice actors, and “subs” is short for subtitles.
However, even though we label it as a genre here (as well as nearly every streaming service that does the same), anime actually is a catch-all term for Japanese animated works. So, there are comedies, dramas, mysteries, and thrillers, all in anime.
