Finally free of his mother's spirit, Zen is able to accept and move on from his past traumas, exorcising the spirits of the cats haunting him in the process. With his hang-ups left behind and Miko arranging for him to adopt the cat he saved, Zen's life looks to be heading in the right direction.
It can work in comedy and romance, but it depends on the specific series. (Thanks, I hate it!) Mieruko, in a way, has this kind of fanservice. There is a ghost that goes around doing nothing but groping girls, and even takes a liken to Miko's friend, Hana.

The Shrine Spirits are a pair of identical spirits with short hair and fox ears. Their faces consist of a vaguely feline nose, darkened, cracked slits for eyes and a grimacing, sharp-toothed mouths. They are incredibly short, reaching only up to Miko's shoulder.
