INTRODUCTION

When I was in college, I had friends who’re all over Your Lie in April. One friend even said it changed his life. I wasn’t into anime yet at that time, so I simply heard them out.

PLOT

After his mother passed away, Kousei Arima is unable to hear the sound of his own piano. Two years later, Kousei still avoids playing, leaving behind his admirers and rivals. He lives a monotonous life with his friends Tsubaki Sawabe and Ryouta Watari.

THOUGHTS

Viewers have varied opinions on Your Lie in April. Some adored it, while some thought it fell short. I’m somewhere between the middle. I got hooked on the storyline, but it could’ve been better. It had the potential to be great but ended up being just good.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Who should we live for? Should we pursue something that makes other people happy? With Kaori’s passing, Kousei painfully learned that his reason to live and play shouldn’t be dependent on anyone.
