Yes, unfortunately, Kurama is dead. His whole chakra was used when Naruto entered Baryon mode. They could have both died of the overwhelming power that is gained when Naruto enters Baryon mode, because for that power to obtain, users life is used , but Kurama sacrificed himself for Naruto. Naruto is still alive, though weakened.
Kinda depends on those around him. Doesn't make sense for Boruto to surpass Naruto unless the threats they are facing are stronger than Naruto. If Kawaki is stronger than Naruto, then your going to have a power scale where more and more characters have to jump ship.
There are not enough pieces of evidence available to support the fact that Naruto is dead. Naruto has been around for years and he has a huge fan base and killing him is a huge risk. The could be brought up to start a spark so that people watch Boruto. But, Naruto dying in Boruto series doesn’t seem convincing.
Most often, the only characters getting killed are those in filler arcs, and by and large, they are usually villains rather than heroes. In Naruto, only a handful of heroes died, including the likes of Neji and Jiraiya. That trend continues in Boruto, but that doesn't mean there haven't been important deaths in the series thus far.
Naruto is currently alive and well in the Boruto series, although he has been severely weakened now that Kurama is dead.
In Boruto Episode 218, despite Naruto's heroic efforts against Isshiki, the series takes a major casualty by killing off its most powerful hero. WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 218, "Partner," now streaming on Crunchyroll.
Which Is An Important Milestone For The Series & For Boruto!
The death was certainly surprising as shonen series like Naruto love to fake-out deaths, but Kagura chose to avoid such a bait and switch. Now, Boruto is left to grieve one of his closest friends, and Kagura's death will no doubt become a source of motivation for Team 7 as a whole moving forward.
As of episode 207 and chapter 59 of Boruto, Naruto is still alive. A lot of things did happen along the way, but as far as the question is concerned, the Hokage is not dead.
the God, Isshiki. Naruto does not die in the Boruto manga as Boruto and Kawaki team up to rescue the Seventh Hokage from the sealed container that Isshiki trapped him in. Despite his poor condition, Naruto recovers and avoids death once again.
Finally, Boruto regains control but realizes he's too much of a danger. Despite Naruto's protests, Boruto and Kawaki agree to end things. Boruto lets his brother impale him through the chest and kill him, much to his father's horror. All of this just makes Naruto's life so much more tragic than it already was.
Naruto #666 shows Obito take back Kurama from Madara and transfer the Nine-Tailed beast back into Naruto, saving Naruto from the brink of death. At the close of the Naruto: Shippuden manga, seen in Naruto #698, Naruto and his long time rival, Sasuke Uchiha, engage in a final battle.
It seems unlikely that Boruto will turn into a villain, at least by his own accord. However, the presence of the karma seal indicates that there is a possibility that Momoshiki Otsutsuki has possessed Boruto to go on a rampage that devastates the shinobi world.
Right now there is no doubt that Naruto is much more powerful than Boruto, even with Momoshiki's Kama seal. The pair may be on comparable levels with Naruto lacking Kuruma, however, with Kuruma and his Baryon Mode Naruto is the strongest character in Boruto we've seen to date.
That being said, among the seven Hokages that have been introduced in the series, Tsunade can be considered the weakest.

To save his son, village, and the world, Naruto was ready to sacrifice his life to defeat Isshiki.
In the first episode of the Boruto series, we saw Boruto with Jougan and a scar running down from his right eye.
Fortunately, Boruto and Kawaki teamed up to locate Naruto’s location, and using by syncing their chakra, they managed to save the Seventh Hokage. However, while Naruto escaped death, how long can he continue to do so?
Jigen then warped Naruto to another dimension where both of them, including the recently arrived Sasuke, embroiled in a battle. Due to Naruto and Sasuke’s prowess, Jigen was driven into a corner , which resulted in him activating his Karma seal and overpowering them.
To save his son, village, and the world, Naruto was ready to sacrifice his life to defeat Isshiki. However, just when his power was failing, Kurama revealed that he had a hidden form that could help him succeed. Unfortunately, with this great power, came a greater cost.
To refocus the attention on the current generation and moderate the power levels, the writers will either seal or kill Naruto and use his death as a turning point in the story.
Naruto Uzumaki | Source: Fandom. Since Boruto is a Shonen series, all the characters will gradually grow stronger, and sooner or later; they will surpass the previous generation. To do this, the writers need something to motivate the characters to grow stronger and present enough opportunities for them to do so.
Currently Boruto is about 12. And in the scene where he and Kawaki are fighting and Konoha is destroyed, he seemed like he w
But don't forget Ukyo Kodachi, the real author of Boruto. Somehow, someday he wants to be known and be popular, and to be distinguished from Kishimoto’s characters, hence he has to kill (off) the previous generation in order to establish his.
He sacrificed himself for the sake of the village and the world by using a asspull technique conjured by Kurama out of the blue:
When Naruto slowly but surely excelled and achieved his goals. He pushed and pushed and after years of practice and hard work after endless perseverance he was finally acknowledged by the village after he defeated pain and even convinced Nagato to see the error of his ways and to perform rinne-rebirth. Narutos dream was realized. This act put him in the running to be Hokage one day. He single handedly saved the entire village. When he was thrown in the air and praised i cried.
Naruto taught me to believe in myself even when no one else does. He taught me to cherish the people in my life who are actually there for me.
Naruto was successful in buying time for Kawaki to finish off Isshiki.
Naruto kept fighting even without having parents. My parents aren’t dead but they aren’t necessarily there either. So I understood and felt that pain.
While he experienced his fair share of losses in Naruto, this is the first time the character has been made so powerless. While he does have his own massive reserves of chakra, they are nothing compared to Kurama's. This puts Naruto in a very dangerous position, as he is well-known worldwide as the Seventh Hokage and the world's strongest shinobi, as well as the one who killed Isshiki.
With Code inheriting Isshiki's will and somehow being stronger than his late master, Naruto is in a much more precarious position than ever before. Although he is of no real use to Code or the rest of Kara without Kurama, Naruto is still a high-priority target for killing their late leader. Considering just how much it took to beat Isshiki and how Naruto has no real way of doing it a second time, it's clear to see why many fans fear that the Hokage's days are numbered.
With that being said, Naruto has actually avoided his death already during the recent battle. Jinchurikis, those who have Tailed Beasts within them, are supposed to die once/if the beast is extracted from them. This is how he actually "died" back in Naruto Shippuden. However, because of the unique way Baryon Mode works, not only is Kurama the only one that died, but he does so in a way that doesn't kill Naruto, thereby saving his life in multiple ways during the battle.
Kawaki loves Naruto as the father he always wished he had, and he's made it clear on multiple occasions that he has no desire to see Naruto hurt or dead. Indeed, he's risked his life numerous times to save Naruto, so as it stands, it's a little hard to imagine that Kawaki would kill him.
Another factor to consider is that Naruto is still quite strong even without Kurama. With his large chakra reserves, chakra from the other Tailed Beasts and his Six Paths Sage Mode, Naruto is still easily classified as one of the strongest shinobi in the world, albeit not quite as strong as before. While it's unlikely he'll be able to take on Otsutsuki-level threats like before, he can still do quite a bit to protect the Hidden Leaf Village from them.
Thus, he decided to seal Naruto in a kettle shaped coffin, which served to cut off his chakra from the real world. Giving off the perception of Naruto’s death was Kawaki ’s prosthetic hand, powered by Naruto’s life essence, falling to the ground.
Beyond that, being pinned down by Isshiki’s chakra-draining rods further confirmed that his escape would not be possible. All he could do was hope the badly wounded Sasuke would return with reinforcements after escaping thanks to his Rinnegan.
A bleak silver lining for Naruto fans arose as Isshiki realized he could not kill Naruto. It would require too much chakra which he could not afford to waste on someone that strong who is also backed by the nine-tailed fox, Kurama.
While those in the real world assumed he was dead, the Hokage existed in a form of limbo. A place where he could not escape and is cut off from his loved ones until Isshiki decided otherwise. Isshiki preferred this to death, as death would have been too easy. He wanted Naruto coherent enough to witness the downfall of the ninja world.
Apparently it seems that Naruto has been sealed, but Sasuke just manages to escape.
Not even Kurama could escape this prison, as they are both forced to watch helplessly as their friends and family become Isshiki’s target in his master plan to drain the planet’s chakra. Inflicting this mental, emotional, and physical torture onto the great Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki was far sweeter to Isshiki than any death could be.
But later in the next generation series, we see that Boruto has a dõjutsu which we've never seen before. It has been confirmed that his eye is called the Jõgan. We see a lot of playing around with different dimensions and creatures from other dimensions in the beginning of the series and we see that Boruto has the ability to see across dimensions with his eye.
The majority of Boruto readers are followers of the original series and are reading it because they want to see more of Naruto and Sasuke in action which is why chapters with them in it gets the highest ratings. If they kill either Naruto or Sasuke a lot of those readers would drop the new series then and there and by a lot I mean a lot of them.
In the pilot scene, we see Boruto fighting a guy named Kawaki on the stone faces. Kawaki tells Boruto that he's going to send him to the place where he sent his father. This immediately makes us think that he's talking about the afterlife and we come to the conclusion that Naruto might have been killed.
No, he will be sent to some other dimension or suspended animation, perhaps a genjutsu or a technique like what has already been shown in Boruto (no spoilers), which he will counter with his unique doujutsu and power from the Ootsutsuki seal.
But Naruto is still alive and well presently. And if you want to find out more, you should actually read the manga or watch the show, and find out for yourself.
Killing Naruto will have a lot of implications and mostly bad at that. Obviously series creators wouldn't want that and hence the ambiguity around Kawaki's statement.
This where all the speculation about Naruto's death began. However the statement itself is quite ambiguous and could mean a lot of different things and in no way confirms that Naruto died.
This is somewhat ironic because Naruto chided Boruto in the ninja exams for cheating with scientific ninja tools and weapons. Little did audiences know that he himself felt like a cheat, which adds a little funny hypocrisy to the tale -- although granted, Boruto had a choice while Naruto didn't, as Kurama had been placed inside him as a vessel since birth.
In the Naruto series, many villains truly gave the Konoha shinobi and the free ninja world a run for their money. The Uchihas, such as Itachi, Obito and Madara, are prime examples, as well as the Akatsuki and Kaguya. However, the would-be Hokage was always on hand to save the day, working with the likes of Sasuke, Sarada and Kakashi to ensure the world wouldn't be destroyed. Now, in the Boruto anime, Naruto admits his dirtiest secret when it came to these endeavors -- and it's all due to Kurama's death.
Even if Naruto didn't use the energy, once the fox disappeared, he would have died regardless, so it made sense to bond so they could become protectors and siblings together. Ultimately, it's a bittersweet moment, but Naruto need not dwell on it because Kurama wanted to help out. In any case, it worked out for the best -- after all, had the likes of Obito stolen the beast for good, Kurama would have been a destroyer rather than a savior.
The Nine-Tailed Fox perished in the battle against Isshiki, with Naruto returning to the Hidden Leaf depowered. His superhuman chakra no longer exists, as it was all due to Kurama, which leads to Konoha's science team tending to him. Sarada is taking charge, as she doesn't know the lasting effect for her longtime colleague.
