In the far chapters of the Demon Slayer manga, Tanjiro is actually converted into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji. Muzan does this to continue his demon legacy and live in this world even after being dead.

Off the top of my head, Sanemi and Iguro have 1–2 other instances where they also manage to cleave one of Muzan's tentacles, but they don't do it as consistently as Himejima does, and they can only cut a much more weakened Muzan). In terms of speed the guy is one of the fastest Hashira in combat.

The Hashira or the Pillars in Demon Slayer are the driving force behind the war against Demons. There’s a reason why they are called “Pillar,” since these guys are the “standing pillars” behind the execution of important and high level Demons.
Demon Slayer does have magical elements in its story, but cheating death is something that most manga skip. And since the series is natural in balancing the power levels of the characters, it become pretty unlikely that the Hashira will ever revive.
