There aren't too many light novels officially translated into English, and many series are out of print and discontinued.
A light novel (ライトノベル, raito noberu) is a style of Japanese young adult novel primarily targeting high school and middle school students. The term "light novel" is a wasei-eigo, or a Japanese term formed from words in the English language. Light novels are often called ranobe (ラノベ) or, in English, LN.
Light novels are primarily Japanese, but are also published in Taiwan and China.
To put it plainly, light novels often have an anime-style illustration on the book cover and some character illustrations are added inside the book as well. That kind of novels were sold in Japan from around the 1970s and it is said that light novels originate with that date.
To my knowlege there is only one author outside of Japan that has published a light novel and that is the author of No Game, No Life, who is from Brazil. That said, if you have a strong grasp of Japanese, and continually post on the various light novel sites popular in Japan, there is a chance you could be picked up.

As the name suggests, a light novel is just that; The story itself is rarely more than 50,000 words and is divided up by a slew of stunning illustrations. Light novels are often confused with manga because of their sporadic pictures.
Violet Evergarden (Japanese: ヴァイオレット・エヴァーガーデン, Hepburn: Vaioretto Evāgāden) is a Japanese light novel series written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase.
Over the years, there have been many light novels that have been adapted into anime and movies, such as the famous science-fiction novel Sword Art Online or the beloved fantasy Spice and Wolf.
Light novels are aimed only at middle/high-schoolers Case in point being Dengeki, an imprint whose catalogue offers content for high-schoolers to young adults, getting all the way to readers in their 30's and even 40's. MF Books has a fan base around readers in their 20's to people in their 40's.
Light novels still feature some artwork but more as an additional feature than part of the story. The artwork is very similar to the more common manga style, however, the illustrations are not key to the story. Instead, the story is kept short and light at a slower pace.
