Anime. The anime adaptation of Planetes began airing its 26-episode run on NHK BS-2 on October 4, 2003, and ended on February 23, 2004.
Everything about this series is solid: the story is fantastic and relevant, the characters feel real enough, the art is beautiful, and the music and acting is pretty good too. For the sci-fi fan, I would consider Planetes a must-see.
Planetes is a science fiction anime based in the year 2075 with the story revolving around a crew of the space debris collectors. It's Unique with its approach, lots of reasonable hard science along with the realistic portrayal of human society gives it a genuine representation of what our future might look.

Naruto is funny…you simply get a introduction to all characters. But in Shippuden, the story starts slowly and it becomes more serious as you will see good fight scenes and plot twists here and there. This anime was the world's best for a significant amount of time.
While I did have a lot to say on the story and characters, I thoroughly enjoyed the show. The action and interactions with the characters kept me excited and it really was just a good show to kickback and watch. Overall, Gatchaman Crowds is far from perfect, but is actually a decent watch.
Planetes tells of the lives of a crew aboard a space station collecting space debris. With so many characters, few of which have much to say, a flaccid romance, and conflict that doesn't start until the third act, this story is more slice of life than drama.
It's out of print and decently expensive to get now.... You all are probably right that the pronunciation is like "plah-neh-tess" or "pla-ne-tes", in English.
