The original writer of Pokémon wanted to end Ash's story a lot sooner and it would have depressed kids all around the world if it had aired. The current direction of the Pokémon anime suggests that Ash Ketchum's journey could be coming to an end and it's likely that it will be a happy one.
No I don't believe it will be. It might seem like it because Ash is going through all the regions, but Goh seems to a new character, and it seems he might take over. From what I see though, even if Ash is not the main character anymore, there is still much more storylines the anime can write about.…
Ash suddenly hears his mother's voice waking him up and he becomes a young boy again, who is about to go on an adventure. Ash's adventure isn't about catching Pokémon or becoming a Pokémon Master, but it's to discover the meaning of existence itself and how to coexist with others again.

Its implied by the initial writer for the Pokémon anime, there were plans to end the series by the Gold and Silver era and he reveals that he had an ending drafted, in which the last episode reveals an elderly Ash Ketchum had hallucinated the entire events of the show.
Ash was eventually defeated by Tobias, but not without having defeated his Darkrai, as well as his Latios, which is also a legendary Pokémon, whom Ash also defeated in a draw with his final Pokémon, making Ash the only known trainer to have defeated two of Tobias' legendary Pokémon.
Pokemon has finally brought Ash Ketchum and Serena back together for a reunion with the newest episode of Pokemon Journeys, and definitely hit fans right in the chest with how it all shook out!
It states that the main character, Ash Ketchum, is actually in a coma, and all the other episodes of the Pokémon anime after episode 1 are all dreams while he's in a coma. So basically, in episode 1, Ash steals Misty's bike to take Pikachu to the Pokémon center. Soon Ash falls out the bike and on to the ground.
Ash Ketchum has been the main protagonist for the Pokémon anime since its inception over 20 years ago.
After the infamous anime episode "Cyber Soldier Porygon" was responsible for causing seizures in a large number of viewers, Shudo felt like his bosses were far more preoccupied with managing the bad press from that incident.
Shudo passed away in 2010, but many of his unused concepts for the series live on through his blog.
The Pokemon anime is still going strong after all of these years. Even after redesigns of the main characters and an animated movie that had Pikachu speaking human words sparking fan outrage, Ash and his friends don't appear to be going anywhere.
For instance, a long-standing fan theory posits that Ash has actually been in a coma since the early episodes of the series. This is why Ash is never shown to age over the course of the series.
But back in the day, the original writer behind the Pokemon anime was not sure if the show would survive so Takeshi Shudo formed an idea. He came up with a finale that could end Pokemon for good, and thanks to Dr. Lava, new translations of Shudo's blog are letting fans in on his radical idea.
It is always difficult saying goodbye to something you love, but fans of the Pokemon anime haven't had to do that just yet. After more than 1,000 episodes, the show is thriving thanks to its most recent series Pokemon Journeys.
Although at first glance Pokemon appear to be friends with humans, they would realize they’re actually being used like slaves, which would lead to an uprising . Pikachu would become the leader of the revolt and end up fighting with Ash.
Not only did Shudo expect to pit Ash against Pikachu, but the entire structure of Pokemon training would fall apart. Shudo went on to say he tried to come up with a different finale that could absolutely end Pokemon, but it wasn't possible. (Photo: OLM Inc) "That’s all I came up with.
