What is Naraku's intention?

The intentions of the villain Naraku : He is very evil. He only wants to cause excruciating mental pain especially to the main characters by manipulating their feelings. He tests the bonds of love, friendship and loyalty to the extreme and turns them to hate and betrayal. In the last episode Kagome (a main character) makes a remark. Naraku targeted those emotions because he knew how much pain it would cause. He knew the feeling of love turning to hate, the terrible feeling of being betrayed. The story shows the transition of Shoyo from a merciless bully to an apologetic guy. And trust me the story doesn't show him as a ‘typical-stud-who's-also-a-bad guy'. He later on tries to amend his relation with Shouko and also with his old friends.

He acknowledged that he should find the answer on his own. He admires both Kenshin and Shishio. Both developed their ideologies through their own experiences and hardships. He realized that he had to find out for himself the answer. He bore no grudge to either of them. He respected them. His character did not have to conform to the thoughts of Kenshin because he is the protagonist.
