Well, it's been stated several times in the Pokemon universe that Lugia have been seen with their offspring, so there's definitely more than one of them. In the movie, there were 5 Genesect (One of them shiny), so there's obviously more than one of them as well; they're just super-rare.
The ten Darkrai are named, in descending order, for their power level. Each also has a difference in appearance to a normal Darkrai.
List of Legendary Pokémon. Of the 913 Pokémon species, 62 are Legendary Pokémon (6.79%). Each released generation has introduced at least three Legendary Pokémon.
Latios and Latias - These two make multiple appearances, including Latios dying during movie 5, then other Latios appearing later in the series, while a Latias in the possession of a Nurse Joy can be seen at one point in the series, only for a wild one to appear later.
Pokemon games are very much different from Pokemon Anime As Nick Mcgrasin answered and also there are not 2 but actually 3 Lugias. In that the male one appeared in the second movie of Pokemon and also in the one in which Hoopa was there.
The battle is over and Tobias wins with only 2 lost pokemon. After this, Tobias kinds of praises Ash for his abilities, but then leaves the arena. Ash has lost and Tobias advances to the next round (semi-finals). This battle and the final battle, he wins with only is Darkrai.
Mew's number in the National Pokédex is 151, the last of the first-generation Pokémon, with 150 being Mewtwo and 152 being Chikorita.
From May's Pokédex: “Celebi, the Time Travel Pokémon. Celebi wanders across time as guardian of the forest.
After 26 years of the wildly successful franchise, it's finally revealed that Ash Ketchum caught his first mythical Pokémon before a legendary Pokémon. Both groups are considered extremely rare, but mythical Pokémon holds the title of the most elusive type of Pokémon.

Ultra Beasts are a new subset of Legendary Pokémon that were introduced in the Sun and Moon games and can now be found and caught in The Crown Tundra DLC for Sword and Shield.
In the 15th Pokémon film, Kyurem VS. The Sword of Justice, Keldeo plays a major role. The Legendary Pokémon is training to become a member of the Swords of Justice, a group of powerful Pokémon. Keldeo duels with Kyurem, but is seriously injured, forcing it to retreat.
Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, the 17th film, opens with Ash and his friends rescuing Diancie from a pair of thieves. The Legendary Pokémon is thankful for their help and decides to tag along with the group. Diancie becomes fast friends with Ash and his companions, and they all travel together throughout the film.
Hoopa first introduces itself to Ash and his friends by playing pranks on them. It quickly befriends them and joins their group as they travel throughout the area. However, after a dark spirit transforms Hoopa into its Unbound form, it begins attacking them.
The 2nd movie established Ash as a chosen hero who must save the world. To help him achieve that goal, Lugia uses telepathy to explain to Ash what he needs to do. When the Legendary Birds, Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno, attack him, Lugia flies in to save the day.
Victini is depicted as a shy but playful Pokémon in the 14th film. It is initially hesitant to trust Ash and his friends, but it eventually comes around and travels around town with them. Unlike many of the other Legendary Pokémon, Victini cannot speak through telepathy.
The 8th film, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, depicts the titular Legendary Pokémon as a very friendly creature in a rather unique way. Rather than bonding with Ash and his friends, Mew instead befriends the group's Pokémon and plays with them while the trainers attend an annual ball that the town hosts.
Like many Legendary Pokémon, Celebi is shown to enjoy interacting with humans, but when it is threatened, it will do what is necessary to survive. When hunted by a poacher, Celebi teleports itself and a young boy named Sam into the future. In the present time, Ash and his friends befriend Sam and Celebi.
Something I always wonder is that...#N#Red has supposedly captured the three legendary birds: Articuno, Zapdos, and Zapdos. as we seen from Pokemon origin. He also went to capture Mew two later on.#N#Many people believe, (including me) that Red set out his journey before Ash and they are possibly related or know each other in someways. which means they are.... err.... in the same universe or time dimension. Then how come we still see Ash encounter with all these legendary Pokemon that are supposedly been caught already at an earlier time by Red?
Okay well, first of all, it's already known that the Anime and Game timelines take place in two different parallel universes (and the Adventures Manga also has its own universe, which of course gives the other, somewhat less popular and important, Pokemon Manga their own universes too.)
In the Pokémon games, the player will only ever face off against one of each Legendary. However, it is still occasionally implied in Pokédex entries that herds of a specific species exist.
Legendaries are generally shown to be genderless in the games, although Pokémon such as Latias and Latios debunk this. This isn’t directly addressed in the anime but there are several episodes dedicated to a mother and child Lugia which raises so many questions about Legendary Pokémon and breeding.
Other than the inevitable battles themselves, interactions with Legendary Pokémon in the games rely on additional antagonists or supporting characters to reveal necessary lore or evil schemes. While the anime certainly does the same for the most part, there are exceptions where Legendary Pokémon are able to speak and act for themselves.
In the Pokemon anime, Legendary Pokémon exist beyond just being an end-goal encounter. There are multiple instances where Ash connects and bonds with these Pokémon. In Pokémon Journeys, for instance, the moment that Ash and Goh meet sees them riding Lugia and having a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
In the anime and the movies, the featured and title Pokémon are given some sort of purpose or role. When Ash met Bulbasaur back in the Indigo League adventures, Bulbasaur was protecting the village and its Pokémon. With legendaries in general, the movies are no different.
It could be the culmination of a story arc or a post-game encounter but catching Legendary Pokémon has always been a pivotal inclusion in the Pokémon series. As difficult as those battles can be, there is never really any dire consequence or negative impact from the capturing of said Pokémon.
Ho-Oh is the first Legendary Pokémon that Ash encounters in the anime, which is significant as it belongs to an entirely different region, Johto, that doesn’t even get introduced until the next generation.
It's quite rare for trainers to catch Legendaries in the wild, but not every Legendary that's "befriended" by a human is necessarily a partner in the same way. This is why Gladion is especially worth noting, as he didn't exactly catch Silvally (or Type: Null before it evolved) as much as he stole it to keep it safe.
Heatran is mostly considered a rare Pokemon rather than a one-of-a-kind Legendary, but it still can't breed and only comes in a single encounter in most games, making its random ownership especially bizarre.
In the anime, Melmetal and its earlier e volution Meltan aren't seen as Legendaries, and instead simply as rare Pokemon that don't appear all too often. In the games, though, this Pokemon has historically remained banned from online play due to its elusiveness and power, making Ash essentially an owner of a semi-unintentional Legendary.
Legendary Pokemon are supposed to be incredibly rare, but a few trainers in the anime have managed to get their hands on them. The Pokemon games have recently begun treating Legendaries as numerous necessary inclusions in competitive teams, but the anime has had much more magic surrounding these one-of-a-kind creatures.
