Well, it's been stated several times in the Pokemon universe that Lugia have been seen with their offspring, so there's definitely more than one of them. In the movie, there were 5 Genesect (One of them shiny), so there's obviously more than one of them as well; they're just super-rare.
The ten Darkrai are named, in descending order, for their power level. Each also has a difference in appearance to a normal Darkrai.

Don't forget: Rayquaza- There was a shiny Rayquaza in the Hoopa movie, yet there was a normal rayquaza in the deoxys movie. Also... Diancie- although mythical and not legendary, it's still rare.
Pokemon games are very much different from Pokemon Anime As Nick Mcgrasin answered and also there are not 2 but actually 3 Lugias. In that the male one appeared in the second movie of Pokemon and also in the one in which Hoopa was there.
The battle is over and Tobias wins with only 2 lost pokemon. After this, Tobias kinds of praises Ash for his abilities, but then leaves the arena. Ash has lost and Tobias advances to the next round (semi-finals). This battle and the final battle, he wins with only is Darkrai.
Mew's number in the National Pokédex is 151, the last of the first-generation Pokémon, with 150 being Mewtwo and 152 being Chikorita.
In Pokémon Legends Arceus, one of the side quests that you'll pick up from the professor's blackboard is Request 66: The Sea's Legend — completing this quest will lead to you catching a legendary water Pokémon called Manaphy.
In the show, Ash Ketchum hasn't caught any legendary Pokémon and he loses a lot of battles and people say that he is a pathetic trainer.
Ash's Rayquaza was the sixth Pokémon that Ash caught in Pokémon Journeys: The Series, and his fifty-eighth overall.
After 26 years of the wildly successful franchise, it's finally revealed that Ash Ketchum caught his first mythical Pokémon before a legendary Pokémon. Both groups are considered extremely rare, but mythical Pokémon holds the title of the most elusive type of Pokémon.
In the Pokémon games, the player will only ever face off against one of each Legendary. However, it is still occasionally implied in Pokédex entries that herds of a specific species exist.
Legendaries are generally shown to be genderless in the games, although Pokémon such as Latias and Latios debunk this. This isn’t directly addressed in the anime but there are several episodes dedicated to a mother and child Lugia which raises so many questions about Legendary Pokémon and breeding.
Other than the inevitable battles themselves, interactions with Legendary Pokémon in the games rely on additional antagonists or supporting characters to reveal necessary lore or evil schemes. While the anime certainly does the same for the most part, there are exceptions where Legendary Pokémon are able to speak and act for themselves.
In the Pokemon anime, Legendary Pokémon exist beyond just being an end-goal encounter. There are multiple instances where Ash connects and bonds with these Pokémon. In Pokémon Journeys, for instance, the moment that Ash and Goh meet sees them riding Lugia and having a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
In the anime and the movies, the featured and title Pokémon are given some sort of purpose or role. When Ash met Bulbasaur back in the Indigo League adventures, Bulbasaur was protecting the village and its Pokémon. With legendaries in general, the movies are no different.
It could be the culmination of a story arc or a post-game encounter but catching Legendary Pokémon has always been a pivotal inclusion in the Pokémon series. As difficult as those battles can be, there is never really any dire consequence or negative impact from the capturing of said Pokémon.
Ho-Oh is the first Legendary Pokémon that Ash encounters in the anime, which is significant as it belongs to an entirely different region, Johto, that doesn’t even get introduced until the next generation.
It's quite rare for trainers to catch Legendaries in the wild, but not every Legendary that's "befriended" by a human is necessarily a partner in the same way. This is why Gladion is especially worth noting, as he didn't exactly catch Silvally (or Type: Null before it evolved) as much as he stole it to keep it safe.
Heatran is mostly considered a rare Pokemon rather than a one-of-a-kind Legendary, but it still can't breed and only comes in a single encounter in most games, making its random ownership especially bizarre.
In the anime, Melmetal and its earlier e volution Meltan aren't seen as Legendaries, and instead simply as rare Pokemon that don't appear all too often. In the games, though, this Pokemon has historically remained banned from online play due to its elusiveness and power, making Ash essentially an owner of a semi-unintentional Legendary.
Legendary Pokemon are supposed to be incredibly rare, but a few trainers in the anime have managed to get their hands on them. The Pokemon games have recently begun treating Legendaries as numerous necessary inclusions in competitive teams, but the anime has had much more magic surrounding these one-of-a-kind creatures.
Onix has been around since the very beginning of the Pokémon series, and it’s a Pokémon that’s received a lot of attention over the years due to the Rock-type Pokémon’s prominent position in Brock’s party. One of the more fascinating variants on the Gen I Pokémon is a Crystal Onix that becomes the obsession of a sculptor in the anime series.
The Pokémon movies are able to engage in epic stories, most of which act as opportunities to showcase the series’ more dangerous Legendary or Mythical Pokémon. Genesect and the Legend Awakened is one of the better Pokémon movies, and it digs into the lore that surrounds the ancient time-traveling Pokémon, Genesect.
The Pokémon video games often contain rudimentary puzzles that act as means to gate-keep players from new areas or special Pokémon. The Pokémon anime does a decent job to translate these riddles and obstacles into exciting storylines, and an early adventure for Ash and company is the Ancient Puzzle of Pokémopolis.
