When Ryu shares that if he succeeds the gang he cannot be with Nao anymore due to possibly being targeted, the words induce a change in him. While Nao thinks he always wanted to leave Ryu he hugs him instead and does not want to break up with him. Taking him to an exchange of the sake cup Nao understands it means they are in they are in the same boat for the rest of their lives. He thinks they should have done this from the beginning. Telling Ryu that he does not need to protect him, Nao points out he managed to be fine until now and besides he is stronger than Ryu anyway.
