Drifters (anime) Drifters (ドリフターズ, Dorifutazu) is a 2016 anime series, based on the manga of same name by Kouta Hirano.
The tactics in Drifters are literally shit. The main characters are bloodthirsty for the sake of the cool factor, without being lovable or engaging. But Tanya's internal monologue is captivating and makes her an incredibly endearing character.
The Inquisitr agrees with this assessment, writing that "anime fans have been treated to a steady stream of the Isekai subgenre…but Drifters pretty much turns our expectations on its head." In a survey by the Japanese website Anime Anime!, Drifters won fifth place among top 10 manga properties to have an animated adaptation.
Riverworld, a book series with a similar concept. Warriors Orochi, a video game spin-off of Dynasty Warriors with a similar concept. ^ "Drifters Volume 5 TPB".

One of the most popular and creative isekai series to be released in recent years is Overlord.
Even though the show has been renewed for a second season in 2016, no development has happened that has taken the series forward. The main reason for the delay could be the lack of content. At the moment of this writing, there are only six volumes. The first season covered four of those volumes, which leaves two more.

Abilities. Although the Black King has yet to be shown in combat, he has already proven himself to be one of the most powerful characters in the series, with abilities that far surpass those of the beings around him (be they human or non-human), including Abe no Seimei.
Perhaps most tellingly, the Black King has crucifixion-like wounds on his hands. While all those clues point in the direction of Jesus, neither the Drifters manga nor the anime have revealed the Black King's true identity as yet.
All signs in the show point to him being none other than the founder of Christianity and the little boy from Bethlehem, Jesus Christ. The Black King is the leader of the Ends, the rival faction to the Drifters who are trying to take over the Orte Empire and then eventually the world.
A 150-second anime adaptation of Drifters was packaged with the final volume of the Hellsing Ultimate video series in December 2012. The short, produced under the supervision of Ryoji Nakamori, technical director Kazuya Miura, and animation director Masayori Komine, featured the voices of Yūichi Nakamura as Shimazu Toyohisa and Mitsuru Miyamoto as Murasaki, with music composed by Yasushi Ishii.

The manga has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide in five different languages. Drifters has been nominated twice for the annual Manga Taishō Awards, once in the year 2011 and again in the year 2012. The manga was also received well by BAMFAS, saying that the "action paces itself throughout the volume, making sure to include only enough to keep readers moving quickly through the event until the next transition hits." Writers for Crunchyroll note that " Drifters has all but jumped the shark by belligerently knocking over all the narrative pillars of the genre." The Inquisitr agrees with this assessment, writing that "anime fans have been treated to a steady stream of the Isekai subgenre…but Drifters pretty much turns our expectations on its head."
Jeanne d'Arc, Gilles de Rais, and a cavalry of the Black King's army attack the Drifters' camp. After evacuating the elven women and children, Toyohisa confronts Jeanne, who he mistakes for a man, while Yoichi faces off against Gilles. In the forest, Nobunaga and the elves take care of the cavalry.
Count Saint-Germi, a powerful nobleman and former ally to Hitler, realizes Orte's impending downfall and chooses to seek an alliance with the Drifters. At nightfall, Jeanne d'Arc, Gilles de Rais, and several soldiers of the Black King's army approach the Drifters' hideout. 7.
In the forest, Yoichi kills the fleeing soldiers, who fall victim to excrement-infested traps. After their successful battle, Toyohisa urges the elves to rescue the female elves. Disguised as Orte troops, the Drifters and elves make their way to the local magistrate's fort and locate the women.
The Drifters are a league of exemplary warriors from across history - the samurai Shimazu Toyohisa, the ninja Nasu, a World War 2 pilot, an Imperial Japanese naval officer, and a host of others - brought to an alternate Earth to fight and destroy the Ends, a similar group who have decided to take over the Earth instead of protecting it.
The anime was created to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Shonengahosha, the publisher of the "Drifters" manga.
The anime Drifters draws a lot of inspiration from history, and these are 11 historical figures that the series has incorporated into it's story. By Philip Lawrence Published May 10, 2020.
In Drifters, Nobunaga is depicted as one of the three main characters and serves as the Drifter's military strategist. Still as ambitious as ever, Nobunaga has his sights set on building a new empire in this unknown land.
Cassidy, his partner, and his partner's girlfriend were killed in a shootout in Bolivia. Drifters portray Cassidy as a wild risk-taking gunslinger, a personality type befitting of the leader of the Wild Bunch. This adaptation of Cassidy would evoke obvious comparisons to Alucard from the Hellsing franchise.
Mitsuhide served as one of Nobunaga' s generals during his reign over Japan in the Sengoku Period. Through unknown reasons, Mitsuhide rebelled against his former daimyo. Nobunaga was ultimately defeated. Ironically, Drifters depicts Mitsuhide on the side of the Ends.
Quite a mouthful of a name isn't it? In life, Anastasia was the youngest daughter of Nicholas II, whom you may remember as the friend of the previous entry, Grigori Rasputin. So it's not really a surprise that in Drifters she has a close (professional) partnership with him.
6 Grigori Rasputin. Russia's mad mystic makes an appearance in Drifters. Only this Rasputin has actual magical powers. In real life, Rasputin was the friend of Emperor Nicholas II. Aware of Rasputin 's unique skills, the emperor appointed him the task of healing his hemophiliac son, Alexei.
Unlike the previous entries, Germi wasn't summoned to be a part of the Drifters or the Ends. Instead, his affiliations lie with the Orte Organization. An oppressive regime formed by, guess who, the now-deceased Adolf Hitler. Germi sold the organization to the Drifters once he realized it was a lost cause. Germi was also adapted for Netflix's Castlevania series.
Anime Debut. Episode 1. Voiced by. Yūichi Nakamura (Japanese) Josh Grelle (English) Image Gallery. Shimazu Toyohisa (島津 豊久, Shimazu Toyohisa) is the main protagonist of Drifters. Historically, he died in 1600. When he first arrived in the new world, he was critically injured, only to be brought to the hideout of Nobunaga ...
Barely conscious, he saw two elves and concluded that he must be in hell because to him, they looked like demons. The two elves realized he is a Drifter and brought him to Nasu Suketaka Yoichi and Oda Nobunaga . When he awoke Toyohisa was skeptical of the other two warriors identities and believed himself to be dead.
It is not known whether he hated the Shimazu clan personally but as a vice commander of Shinsengumi in Kyoto during the Bakumatsu period (late shogunate) fighting against the Reformist (Meiji Restoration), he might have crossed swords with Toyohisa's future clansmen during the era.

Yes, Drifter's drawings are more beautiful, but too hard for the in-betweeners to draw, so the animation isn't fluid. They used lame tricks like shaky cam to give the illusion of motion and couldn't even animate the mouths right. Tanya's gorgeous in every way.
I've seen people say that Drifters is the best animation that they have ever seen... No, it's Mob psycho 100 and you need to watch it to learn what good animation truly looks like. Drifters have better drawings, but people claiming that it's the best animation ever need to watch better animes...
