From the beginning, the Todoroki family is coercive, abusive, and unloving, rather than a typical loving family. In Japan, Enji Todoroki, also known as Endeavor, used his power and influence to force his future fiancée Rei to marry him.
While some may find Dabi’s look intimidating, his rugged bad-boy attributes have made him one of the anime community’s favorite characters. Dabi started off as a typical evil villain, hell-bent on ending every hero’s career.
Endeavor married Rei Todoroki in order to create a child with both his and Rei’s fire and ice quirks. Once Touya was born, Endeavor recognized his power, recognizing that his flame might be higher than his own.
Everything seemed to have been taken away from a boy who only wanted to be the greatest hero in the world for his father.
Endeavor was invited to Sekoto Peak by Touya in order for him to witness his distinctiveness and display his development. Endeavor was fully aware of the hazards that his oddity posed, and he immediately disapproved of Touya’s training.
Overall Abilities: Having been trained by his father, Endeavor, at a young age, and undergoing self-training, Dabi has proven to be a very powerful villain, being one of the strongest members of the League of Villains' Vanguard Action Squad, as well as its de facto leader.
Dabi is a fairly tall, pale young man of a slim, somewhat-lanky build, described to be in his early twenties. He has white hair with a few red streaks at its crown that spikes upward around his head, hanging low over his eyes, which are thin, turquoise in color, and heavily lidded. Before the reveal of his true identity, his hair was dyed black.
Other than explaining his abusive childhood, kinship to Endeavor, and Endeavor's ambitions, Dabi also confessed to orchestrating his father's encounters with Hood, Starservant, and Ending in his attempts to discredit his father, a fact that sent Shoto into a tearful rage.
In the Paranormal Liberation War Dabi began utilizing his father's Flashfire Fist techniques in combat and was able to not only instantly burn through Best Jeanist's Carbon Fibers but completely and easily overpower his younger brother Shoto who could also use Flashfire.
Defensively, Dabi can burn away attacks and even generate massive walls of fire to surround his targets. With this skill and power, he can incinerate an entire group of opponents in mere seconds. Overall, Dabi has the power and ingenuity to contend with a multitude of adversaries who outnumber him.
Dabi wears a darkish blue long coat with the same white cuffs similar to his previous one.
Cremation: Dabi's Quirk grants him the ability to generate highly destructive blue flames from his body. He has very well-developed control of his flames and can project them a fair distance from himself and in large amounts. Furthermore, his flames possess greater firepower than that of his father, Endeavor's Hellflame Quirk, and they become even stronger when Dabi feels strong emotions. However, Dabi's body has a low tolerance for his own flames, due to inheriting his mother’s resistance to freezing temperatures, rather than his father's resistance to high heat, and he will get burned if he uses them for prolonged periods of time.
When Did Todoroki Find Out Dabi Is His Brother? Dabi revealed that he was Toya Todoroki in Chapter 290 while Shoto, Endeavour, Deku, and the heroes were fighting Shigaraki and Gigantomachia. He revealed himself by washing off the black dye on his hair and revealing his true name.
He revealed he was created for his father’s selfish dream but was deemed a failure and abandoned. Dabi resented his father for pushing his dream of becoming the number one hero onto him and then casting him aside for Shoto when Toya proved to be inept.
In Chapter 292, Dabi didn’t hold back as he pushed Shoto back with a wave of flames, stating that he no longer had feelings for anyone. He didn’t care that the villain he sent after Endeavour nearly killed his other brother Natsuo. READ: My Hero Academia: Top 20 Strongest Students Ranked!
He stopped attacking Shoto once Endeavour was unconscious, stating that there was no point in breaking his ‘doll’ if Endeavour wasn’t watching . Despite claiming indifference, a part of Dabi probably does resent Shoto to an extent.
Dabi then asked Endeavour not to call him by his villain name– not when he had a much more respectable name: Toya. The revelation stunned both Shoto and Endeavour as Dabi then said he had hoped his family would recognize him despite his face looking different from the burns.
Dabi then revealed he had been biding his time for years, watching Endeavour from afar, thinking about how to maximize the destruction of his career. He revealed that a pre-recorded clip of his life story, exposing Endeavour, was being broadcasted at that very moment.
Toya was believed to be dead for around ten years. Everyone thought he’d burned himself to cinders with his own quirk, but it seems Toya survived by some twist ...
The purpose of this marriage was an attempt by Enji to conceive and raise a child with a powerful Quirk in order to surpass All Might. The marriage between the two was an unloving one and only done for Enji's personal desires.
Rei was also a victim of Enji's abuse, to the point she started becoming mentally unstable. She snapped one day when she saw Shoto's left side which reminded her of Enji and threw boiling water over him. After this incident, Enji had her admitted to a mental hospital.
Beforehand, Enji trained his oldest child, Toya, to be his successor due to having perceived strong potential in his Quirk, which was a stronger version of Enji 's own. However, because Toya did not have access to Rei's Quirk, his body could not handle the overheating caused by his flames.
Their family is severely damaged when it's revealed that the eldest son, Toya, had been alive all along and was in fact Dabi, a mass murderer and member of the League of Villains. Furthermore, Enji's past and the trauma the Todoroki family endured is exposed to the public.
