So How Old Is Too Old? Interestingly, while anime viewership peaks at age 22, there’s a steep decline afterwards. Just a handful of r/anime subscribers claim to be over 36, with the oldest age 64.
No, you are never too old to watch anime. Anime is a form of art , a way of storytelling just like movies or tv shows. If you like it you should watch it , age doesn't matter. are you ever too old to not enjoy certain forms of media?
Otherwise, how can you explain that there are still quite a large number of people being obsessed in anime or manga. I'm 22 years old. Is it too late to begin watching anime and reading manga? 'Course not. You can start anytime. It would indeed have been better to have started early, but it's pretty easy to catch up with all the good stuff.
Anime has multiple genres that cater to the tastes of the young and the old. I started watching anime when I was 7 and I never looked back. I started watching Shoujo and Shounen anime. When I turned 18, I gravitated towards Josei and Seinen since I noticed that the regular Shoujo and Shounen anime plots became oversaturated with the same cliches.
There are anime series that are specifically targeted to younger people, but then there are also anime series and movies that are for adults with sex scenes, blood and gore. There are way so many variations, it’s impossible to generalize that anime is just for kids.
There isn't an age limit for watching anime. You just watch until you get bored of it.
Yes its perfectly fine to watch anime as an adult.
Unlike American cartoons, however, anime has a wide following, with series and films made for audiences of all ages, including some marked "mature audiences only."

Honestly, Tokyo Ghoul is not THAT gory. That said, there are themes and concepts in it that I think would be too heavy for a 12 year old; lots of sexual content, brutal scenes and the hero is well... not very stable. Maybe around 16 or 18 would be good instead.
like myself, some people are addicted to anime because it's fun, action-packed, comedic, and entertaining, it's like a show that's so good you can't help but watch another episode, and the characters are cute and different.
TV-14: Parents Strongly Cautioned, intended for children ages 14 and older in the company of an adult.
In Japan, the movie was rated PG12 by national movie regulator Eirin (also known as the Film Classification and Rating Organization), which recommends parental guidance for children under 12 years old but does not require parental accompaniment in the cinema. In the U.S., however, it's a totally different story.
Like the Sexy Jitsu for an example, Or when Naruto literally stabs himself in the hand and swears an oath of pain or whatever. But overall I really liked it and suggest it to anyone as old as 13 or older.
A 2020 survey conducted in the United States found that anime movies were generally more popular among men than women, with 13 percent of male respondents reporting that they found anime to be very favorable, compared to nine percent of women who said the same.
Not just an average MAL user, but in general a person who considers themselves a fan of anime. I would say around 26-50 anime is the average because people tend to go watch the bigger stuff, so AOT, Naruto, Dragon Ball, Death Note since these types of shows are considered mainstream and have broad appeal.
This means a whopping 96% of Gen Z respondents did know about anime, but the word is out on whether they are active fans. This stat is wild to see, and you can appreciate it better in context.
