A deaf elementary school girl, Shoko Nishimiya, upon transferring, meets a boy named Shoya Ishida in her new class. Shoya, who is not deaf, leads the class in bullying Shoko, because she is deaf. As the bullying continues, the class starts to bully Shoya for bullying Shoko.

Voice Actor Shōko Nishimiya (西宮 硝子, Nishimiya Shōko?) is the female protagonist of the Koe no Katachi series. While Shōko may not be completely deaf (given the hearing aids she possesses in both ears), her hearing loss is drastic enough to the point that she can be considered clinically deaf.
The report on the website reveals that a section of fans fell in love with the story and eventually started a rumor claiming that A Silent Voice is based on a true story. However, till date there is no proof if A Silent Voice is a real story.
There is definitely some sad moments in it but I found the overall story to be uplifting and positive. The beginning 15 minutes is hard to watch with all of the bullying but the rest of the movie is about a guy trying to redeem himself for his past failings.
Because the movie deals with mature and disturbing themes like bullying, suicide and atonement, it isn't recommended for children under 14 years.
The movie had its premiere in Japan on September 17, 2016, and it had been released in various parts of the world between the period of February and June 2017. Unfortunately, for the fans of this movie, we have sad news. It seems that the continuation of the story will not happen at all.
Ending of A Silent Voice Towards the end of the film, Shoya meets Shoko and apologises to her for mistreating her. They open up about their feelings and Shoya tells her that he did have suicidal thoughts but has now given up those thoughts. She offers to help him.
Yuzuru is first introduced when Ishida looks to get in touch with Shouko Nishimiya years after the elementary school bullying incident. Yuzuru claims to be Shouko's boyfriend to discourage Ishida from approaching her.
ShoyaAfter a while, Shoko falls in love with Shoya and, at one point, tries to declare this. However, due to her speech impediment, he fails to understand her. At the end of the manga/movie, after having studied in Tokyo for a while, Shoko returns to her hometown and reunites with Shoya for the Coming of Age Day.

It’s an overwhelmingly minority opinion, I know, but A Silent Voice is a slapdash, choppy, depthless summary of a remarkable, heartrending story of the despairing consequences from the most basic of our childhood stupidities: our ignorance of empathy.
