A Silent Voice is a powerful soul-moving movie that looks at teen bullying and its effects on the people that are victims of bullying. Through all of the pain and suffering, the characters learn how to form true friendships and become better people. The path of redemption and rebirth of the characters is fully expressed in this movie.
When Shoya and Shoko started spending time with each other, he asked her if she wanted to see anyone else that was in their middle school class. The only classmate that was close to her back then was Miyoko. Shoya didn't have a way to find her at first, causing him and Shoko to look for her together.
When the characters began working on their movie, they had a lot of different ideas, which caused conflict. Though most of them didn't want her in it, Shoya asked Shoko to join them in making the film.
After Shoya woke up, he found Shoko and told her everything that he wanted to, from apologizing for how he wronged her to letting her know that she gave him the strength to live, which brought them even closer together. When Shoya returned to school, he tried to embrace the world around him and not ignore others, which Shoko helped him out with.
The majority of the first volume takes place a few years prior to the rest of the series. When Shoya was a kid, all that he wanted was to beat boredom, which resulted in him doing some bad things. However, he became much worse when Shoko, a deaf girl, joined his class. He made fun of, bullied, and harassed her.
When Shoya, Shoko, Yuzuru, Tomohiro, Naoka, Miki, Satoshi, and Miyoko all started hanging out, they decided to go to an amusement park. Though they should have all had fun, Naoka ruined Shoya's day by trying to get him and his old friend, Kazuki, to talk. Afterward, she and Shoko went on a Ferris wheel together, where they talked about their past.
After reuniting with Shoko, Shoya wanted to become her friend. This gave him a reason to not kill himself, but he wasn't sure if he would be able to make up for his mistakes and be friends with her. As he tried to figure things out, he met two other characters that would become close friends of his: Tomohiro and Yuzuru.
Shoya used all of his strength to save Shoko from falling to her death. Although he saved her, he fell instead and was saved by Kazuki and Keisuke. In the hospital, the Nishimiya family begged his mother for forgiveness, causing the two families to get closer to each other.
While A Silent Voice tells the same story in both adaptations, the manga has a lot more scenes and the order they are shown in makes more sense to the plot. The order of scenes gives readers a better understanding of who the characters were and how they developed over time.
When an anime cuts out parts of a manga, it usually isn't as good. However, the film adaptation of A Silent Voice proves that this is not always the case. Though there are many scenes that manga readers wish were in the film, it also cut out the worst parts of the source material.
The movie didn't include some of the best parts of the manga. A lot of things that happen in the first volume of the series were not shown, such as what Shoya's life was like before meeting Shoko. This allowed readers to understand him more prior to his meeting Shoko and the other main characters.
There were times throughout the manga when the story was either very light-hearted or dark. While the film still kept its mature themes and the most important moments, such as Shoya saving Shoko's life, it didn't go as far as the manga did in other areas.
As the main character of A Silent Voice, it's important for fans to understand Shoya as much as possible. The manga did a great job at letting readers know exactly who he was by dedicating a lot of the story to showing his inner thoughts.
While the movie didn't show much of Shoya's inner thoughts, it instead showed audiences the way he viewed the world. By understanding how he looks at people and sees things around him in a more meaningful matter, fans can appreciate his character in a way that the manga didn't show.
Besides Shoya, the other main characters of A Silent Voice are Shoko, Yuzuru, and Tomohiro, with Naoka also playing a very important role in the story. The other three characters in their friend group, Miki, Satoshi, and Miyoko, aren't nearly as important in the movie as they are in the manga.

The main teasing comes from Shouya Ishida. The class forces all of the blame onto Shouya even thought they had taken part in the teasing forcing Shouya to become a social outcast.
The plot deepens as Shouya develops feelings for Shouko after trying to redeem himself for teasing her. Although the characters clearly have romantic feelings for each other, the movie never sees them come together as a couple, but we can see that they definitely have a romantic future ahead of them.
Makoto Shinkai, director of Your Name, called the film a "fantastic piece of work" and a "polished and grand production" which even he is unable to replicate. It won Best Animation of the Year in the 26th Japan Movie Critics Awards, where director Naoko Yamada also received praise for her work on the film.
