They are different as Na gi no Asukara focuses more on the relationships and Shinsekai yori focuses on the dark stories, using the relationships as another factor into bringing the story up into the good story it is . Nagi no Asukara , compared to Shinsekai yori, is much more lighter and happier though.

Nagi no Asukara is more dramatic while Waiting in The Summer is a bit more comedic. If you loved one of these series, you'll definitely love the other. minelyn says. both romance. both have supernatural qualities. both are just awesome. if you like one you are sure to like the other.
9 people think you'll like this. ShinigamiRULES says. Nagi no Asukara and Shinsekai yori actually don't seem really similiar, and that is the truth, but both include a group of original 5 main characters together, and their interests in another in the same group. Both of them have music that is quite good too.

All in all they're both great anime and if you liked one you'll probably like the other. Noriko says... Both shows have 5 main characters, and in a way, two factions (sea people and land people ; rats and humans) which dislike eachother. The story itself isn't so similar but wathing one reminds me of another.
What sets him apart from the other slackers in his town is an involuntary time travel ability that allows him to jump back several seconds in time in order to prevent accidents and even deaths. Both are on netflix, containing magical compenants; aka "ghost" and sea people. The sweet and drama orientated animes make these slice of life shows a treasure to watch. Both are suitable for younger ages, as well, of course, if you were wondering that is.
The characters in Nagi no Asukara seem almost a carbon copy to that of Ano Hana when disregarding the obvious plot lines . The story also flows the same ways in a linear pattern with a group of kids trying to find the truth to a mystery. Highly recommend if you like Nagi you'll like AnoHana.
