Only days before this catastrophe, our main character Aiko Tachibana gets into a car accident, killing her father but leaving her barely alive. Shortly after her accident, her mother and brother were killed in the Burst. Jump two years after the accident, and she's rehabilitating, temporally wheelchair-bound.
